How do I set up my Nighthawk X4 to Bridge mode?
Bridge mode will help you connect multiple devices wirelessly in 802.11 ac speed. For this setup, you will need two routers: one will be the main Wi-Fi and second one will be in Bridge mode.
Benefits of using Bridge mode:
- Connecting devices such as NAS, game consoles, Blu-ray players etc. in gigabit Wi-Fi speed
- No need for individual 802.11 ac wireless adapter for each device
- Enhance video and gaming performance
Procedure:
Note: To take advantage of the 802.11 ac feature, you need the 5GHz wireless settings. Click hereon how to get those settings from your NETGEAR® router.
- Get the wireless settings of your main Wi-Fi router. You need the wireless name or SSID, wireless security type and network key or passphrase.
- Connect a computer to the LAN port of the R7500 that will be set to Bridge Mode.
- Open an Internet browser and go to http://www.routerlogin.com.
- An authentication window will open. The default username is admin and the default password is password.
- Once you have the NETGEAR® Genie page, click on Advanced Tab. On the left side, click on Advanced Setup then click on Wireless Bridge.
- Click on Enable Wireless Bridge Mode and click on Setup Bridge Mode Wireless Settings button.
- Select Wireless Network (5GHz a/n) for Please choose a wireless network to take advantage of the gigabit Wi-Fi speed. Specify the wireless settings of the main Wi-Fi here (network name or SSID, wireless security type and network key or passphrase) and click on Apply.
- You can change the IP address settings to dynamic or fixed. By default, it is set to Get dynamically from existing router. Click Apply to save the settings.
- Once the settings are saved, the Status page will open and Connection Status is now Connected. Your R7500 is now properly configured as Bridge.
