Furthermore, if you are using ReadyNAS in a business-critical environment, we strongly recommend drives with a Rotation Vibration Safeguard feature for providing an extra layer of protection from premature drive failure. These drives generally include 5-year warranties, which matches the 5-year warranty on your business-class ReadyNAS device.

We also encourage you to select drives that most closely align with your planned workload. Desktop class drives are designed for less stressful operation (typically 8 hours a day, 5 days a week) and have limited load/unload cycles. Enterprise class drives are designed for constant operation (typically 24 hours a day, 7 days a week) and have higher MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) rates as well as higher load/unload cycles. Selecting the wrong drive for your workload could result in early drive failure and possible data loss. Finally, it is good practice to always backup your data.
