ReadyNAS OS 6: Disk Failure Alerting
ReadyNAS OS 6 provides alerting to notify you of impending failure on drives.
ReadyNAS won't alert you until errors match certain thresholds to prevent being alerted about the small incremental errors.
You would receive an e-mail alert about
- reallocated sectors if:
- 50 reallocated sectors AND power-on hours <= 24
- Reallocated sector count increasing at least 10 times in the past 30 days AND reallocated sector count > 500
- Reallocated sector count > 1500
- mechanical problems with the hard drive if:
- There are greater than 50 spin retries
- 10 or more spin retries in the past 30 days
- parity errors if:
- Greater than 25 end-to-end errors
- 10 or more errors in the past 30 days
- aborted commands against a hard drive if:
- Greater than 25 command timeouts
- 10 command timeouts in the past 30 days
- unstable sectors if:
- 50 pending sectors AND power-on hours < 24
- Pending sector count increasing at least 10 times in the past 30 days AND pending sector count > 100
- Pending sector count > 500
- uncorrectable errors on a hard drive if:
- Greater than 25 uncorrectable errors
- 10 uncorrectable errors in the past 30 days
- ATA errors if:
- ATA error count has increased more than 10 times in the past 30 days.
- ATA error count has increased more than 100 in the past 30 days.
