This article walks you through the steps to connect your iPad to a wireless network. You should have a working wireless AP, its SSID (wireless network) and Password (Passphrase)
To connect your iPad to a wireless network:
- Tap on Settings.
- Once in the settings application, the General Settings screen will appear:
- Tap on Wi-Fi in the top left corner. Ensure that Wi-Fi is on (Toggle button turned green) as seen below. If it is not, slide it towards right to turn on the Wi-Fi.
- Below “CHOOSE A NETWORK", you will see a list of available wireless networks to select from. Please note that it may take a few minutes for the iPad to see all available networks. If it does not find any networks, it will pause for about a minute and then attempt to search again.
- When you see the Wi-Fi network that you would like to connect to, tap on it to attempt to connect. If it has a lock next to the name, then it will require you to enter a password in order to connect (if not, skip to the next step). If prompted for a password, “Enter the wireless password for <
>”. This password was originally set on your wireless router. If you do not remember this password anymore, you can logon to the router and change the password to a new one.
- The iPad will now attempt to connect to the network. When finished, it will display the Wi-Fi settings screen again. The joined network will nvow be listed with a checkmark next to it as shown below:
This checkmark designates that your iPad is connected to the network. You can also confirm that your iPad is connected to a wireless network by locating the word iPad with the Wi-Fi symbol ( ) next to it in the top left corner. You can now go back to your home screen and use any apps that require Wi-Fi connectivity.
